Constructed in 1873, the building stands on Piazza Unità d’Italia, famous for its beauty and seaside location overlooking the Gulf of Trieste. Corinthian pilaster strips and flora friezes adorn the elegant façade, which conserves its eclectic original architectural styling. A 5-star boutique hotel, the Grand Hotel Duchi d’Aosta is a charming residence in full Central European character, joined by the Harry’s Piccolo restaurant with its two Michelin stars. The lighting of the collective spaces of the hotel is by Barovier&Toso. In the hall, guests are welcomed by Crown, a suspension lamp on three levels, a glowing, regal presence that reinterprets the traditional pastorale in a modern way. The suspension lamps that light the four floors are custom items, made with a particular oblong oval form. Not just corridors, but also pathways for art, temporary exhibitions (curated by Fabio Fonda) that shed light on contemporary talent.
