Barkli Shanghai Penthouse

Moscow, Russia

Designed by the British studio RHWL Architects and Aedas, the Barkli Gallery residential complex is one of the most prestigious and luxurious buildings in Moscow, inspired by early 20th-century art, particularly the works of Leon Bakst. The structure is characterized by neoclassical architecture and Art Nouveau motifs. Of the 43 apartments, four are penthouses, each inspired by the greatest capitals of the world. The Barkli Shanghai penthouse, designed by Architect Maria Bakhareva of the Baharev and partners studio, spans 300 square meters, divided into "box" rooms, each uniquely styled and artistically distinguished. Skilled artists and craftsmen were commissioned to create a complex decorative apparatus, mainly composed of panels, sculptures, and ceramics inspired by traditional Japanese motifs. Luxury reigns supreme in every detail, specifically designed for the owner. The study features numerous references to the art of the 1920s, such as the "Cosmos" panel, crafted in imitation of the famous artist Erté's "lacquered" style. Reflecting in the round mirror is the Premiere Dame chandelier with its sophisticated decorative richness. Its sparkling pendants and finely crafted Venetian crystal cups are paired with gold metal finishes and black lampshades, matching the colors of the panel.
